The CUET is an entrance exam given by students to get into the top central universities of India and also participate in the selection process of many institutions. It is given by students after their class 12th (CUET UG). Why CUET UG?

Imagine one exam through which you may get into top universities of country like Shri Ram college of Commerce, Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, Hansraj College, Hindu University, and many other Delhi University(DU) Colleges, apart from that you also have options to get into Banaras Hindu University(BHU) or Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) or  State Universities  Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University etc. and after all that Deemed and Private Universities are still open. And all these options are provided by one exam, CUET.

It is an exam given by 14+ lakhs students last year, and for the fair conduct of the exam, NTA( National Testing Agency), the conducting agency, has to maintain clarity, transparency, and uniformity so that students can get equal opportunity across diverse situations.

Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme of CUET UG EXAM

There are 27 domain subjects of this exam which further can have sub combinations. Last to last year the Examination was CBT based ( Computer Based Test) but previous year it was in handwritten mode (offline based). This year it is expected to be in CBT mode again.

Marking Scheme 

 The exam paper is generally MCQ based(multiple choice Question) with 

a) +5 for every correct answer 

b)  1 for every negative answer 

c) 0 for unattempted 

Number of questions generally depends on the subject you are choosing. For example, in maths the question paper is of 200 marks whereas for general test it is of 250 marks.

NOTE  You have to choose the subject based on the criteria college mentions in their website for the particular course that you want to pursue 

for example 

You want to pursue BMS from Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies so you have to choose mathematics + one language + general test.

Eligibility Criteria

For any aspirant intending to get entry into CUET 2025 

  •  It requires a minimum achieving a 50 percent mark in board exams of Class 12 for General category candidates
  • One needs to secure at least 45 per cent of marks to obtain entrance in CUET for SC and ST candidates.
  • There is no age bar for this examination

CUET UG Registration Process and Important Dates

STEP 3Provide the required detailacademic details, subjects you are going to give
STEP 4Upload the documents that are required for verificationClass Xth marksheet, Class XIIth marksheet, category certificate etc.
STEP 5Payment ProcessYou need to pay the fees for the no. of subject you are attempting, Thus it may vary from person to person

IMPORTANT DATES (TENTATIVE) 

  1. Registration may starts from February to March
  2. Exams generally happen from May to June
  3. Results comes normally 1 month after the last examination

Common Mistakes to Avoid During YOUR Preparation of CUET UG 2025

Students who are preparing for CUET must avoid these mistakes and it may help them get some better idea for their preparation 

  1. Understand the paper difficulty and past year trends and put the effort accordingly so that you don’t undermine the importance of other subjects.
  2. Students are advised to study daily, consistently rather than cramming and studying.
  3. The exam tests more skills apart from knowledge like time management and skimming and for that practice giving mocks.
  4. You may highlight key terms or important points  it helps us a lot, at the last minute.
  5. Use reliable books for your preparation  NCERT textbooks, subject specific guides (e.g., Arihant, Oswaal).

  7.  Give mock tests both full length and section wise mock tests, to know your overall and section wise strength and inadequacy .
